Okay, if you're part of the adoption community, you've heard by now. But if not - Ethiopia has mandated, effective immediately, that all parents must make TWO trips to Ethiopia during the adoption process. Yeah. Two. There are good reasons for this. Really. BUT...
I'm worried. I'm worried about meeting our baby girl and then leaving her. I'm worried about paying for two trips. I'm worried about not having enough funds for orphanage donations because we have to somehow pay for two trips. I'm worried about leaving my baby girl.
So yeah. I'm worried. I know things will work out. They always do. But it's not going to be easy. Not this time. My heart is heavy tonight as I think about this stuff.
I thought about you when I heard this today...I'm so sorry!
ReplyDeleteThis is heavy on our hearts as we wait for our referral, but I especially thought of you and others who have their referral and not a court date. We are sending good wishes your way. Of course things will work out, but it does throw a big monkey wrench into the works.
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog but rarely comment (sorry!!)
We had to attend court last year, because we adopted from the UK. Because of other legal stuff, we also had to make two trips. What can I say? Going, meeting, and returning was one of the worst things I've ever had to do in my life. But on the other hand... it's a whole extra chapter for the lifebook!
Ummmmm... I think I just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear this. It's hard.
This news is a lot to digest. It would be very difficult to financially go twice and to leave your child behind. This is tough. Prayers are with you.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and all of the other families (and precious children) in the process!
ReplyDeletePraying for you!
ReplyDeleteYou know how much you are loved. You know how much your girl is loved. God already has all of the little details figured out. As a community of people that love you, love her, love adoption this WILL happen. HUGE HUGE hugs to your mama heart!!
ReplyDeleteI have a heavy heart today as well! I am trying to figure out how we are going to make two trips and more importantly, how we are going to leave our little girl before she can travel home with us!!! I am praying that some families might be "grandfathered" into the old system...you are in my thoughts and prayers!
ReplyDeleteStacie--I'm praying for you and all adoptive parents that this is affecting (and those adoptive parents that it is not affecting, as well). Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteThoughts, prayers, hugs and kisses....
ReplyDeleteWill keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. I know this is a tough situation to be in...
ReplyDeleteStacie-
ReplyDeleteMy name is Gina Lister and I am also adopting from Ethiopia and waiting for a court date right now. I am with Nightlight Adoption in SC and we are partnering with Hope Adoption in St. Louis MO for the process. I am so happy for you! I found you through a friend I made in Rolla MO named Lisa Loos. I met her and J at the pool one day. I will be praying for your financial situation. I totally understand where you are coming from. Hard to understand what God is doing here, but I am sure He is going to provide for all of our needs. Have a great weekend!
