I know I've been a bad blogger lately. I know I'm not commenting on your blogs. I've not taken time to catch up with our friends. I blame Stephenie Meyer and this blog, (which, by the way, is a hilarious blog - you should read it). Anyway, if you haven't figured it out, I've been consumed since I started reading the Twilight Series. It all started with this book...
It should be noted that I do not like scary books or movies (although I once co-wrote a 20 page paper about slasher films - go figure), but since these books are written for a teenage audience, I seem to be handling it okay. Anyway, that is my excuse for being a bad blogger - I've become obsessed with teen lit. Now onto some more meaningful stuff...
MICAH IS HAVING A GROWTH-SPURT!! And, I don't just mean physically - I also mean mentally (if that makes sense). In the past week he has started communicating with signs and with words - like crazy! He always used to sign for "please" but now he is using "more" and "eat." (I promise to get video - especially since my awesome husband got me this for my birthday. Isn't he the best?)
Also, he is now saying the word "yep" when you ask him a question, as in,
Me: "Do you want to go see the dogs?"
Micah: "Yep." or
Me: "Do you want a pretzel?"
Micah: "Yep."
It is quite adorable. BUT, there is more! He has also started to use a sentence!!! Seriously, I thought single words were supposed to come first but lately Micah will point to something and say, "I want that." Okay, yes, it sounds more like, "Iuntdaaat" but it's become pretty obvious that he is indicating his want of something. It is amazing. I love it.
He is also still swiffer-ing like a madman - especially if I get out the vacuum - he goes right to the closet where the swiffer sleeps and points to it saying, "Iuntdaaat."
He got a new Amharic t-shirt today. We got it from this site (go look- you will love them) and it looks adorable on him....
And, finally, some news on his baby sister! Today we went in for our homestudy update with Erin at CHI and our new plan is to have our homestudy submitted to CIS as soon as possible and then hopefully have our dossier ready to go by November. Or December at the latest. (We've sped things up a bit in our timeline since we expect wait times to increase in the near future.) I'm going to start on it now (especially since the update paperwork was very simple) so I think I can have it all ready to go when our 171-H comes. The current wait-time for that in our state is 4-6 weeks. Last time it took 9 days, so we'll see.
So, with wait-times growing we are now going to just say that we hope to be traveling or at least have a referral by Micah's third birthday, which is February 2010. I know that seems hopelessly far away, but I'm trying to prepare for a long wait. Of course, if it happens sooner, you know I won't be complaining! :)
Eeek! I am excited to get our dossier off to Ethiopia!!!
I am finishing the fourth book now in the series. I have loved it. I cannot wait for the movie to come out.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you need any of the other books and you can have them from me (if you didn't buy them already)
Excited that you are working on getting your dossier sent in earlier. YAY!! Girls are so awesome.
geeshh he's so darn cute!!! I was relieved to see the update process is gonna be fairly easy, too. I think we are on the same track!
ReplyDeleteVery exciting!!!
we just got our I-171H form back on Saturday and it took us 6 weeks. The first time we were approved it took just two weeks so it is taking longer, good luck with the process, we are going tomorrow to have everything state certified so we are getting closer!!
ReplyDeleteBeing able to talk makes life SO much easier! Way to go Micah! It's definitely helped Boomer, his favorite: Look at me--mommy. Usually when he's doing something crazy and dangerous. It's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteOh, and you and Dawn are coming very close to getting me to start reading those books. But I can't right now, no time, must stay away :)
I have to say, I love the title of your post:-) I've been saying it over and over and over!! Yes, I need a life!!
ReplyDeleteYay for Micah and his talking...he is very smart!!
I am hanging on to every word about baby girl's process...it is just so exciting to be following your journey again!!
I've heard that the Twilight series of books is a good one! I have yet to pick it up yet, because I'm reading about 4 other books at the moment...but, maybe that will have to be on my list soon.
ReplyDeleteI think Eli kind of looks like Micah! I got a new video of our boy and was thinking how much he looks like your son! Crazy.
Can't wait for your referral of your little girl! I know it's still a little far away, but surely not 2010. I so hope it's sooner :)
great to hear an update on Micah and on your second adoption. Thanks for the tip on the Tshirt! I just ordered one for Sam.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much peer pressure around me right now to read those dang Twilight books...I think you may have pushed me over the edge and I might just give in!
ReplyDeleteMalak just used his first sign today! (asking for more food, of course) I am so excited and can't wait for him to know more and be a pro at it. (like Micah) :)
Twilight is a huge hit with the Morgan women and friends! We are planning to go to the movie the first night, too. Love it. Next week our home study will be complete and then it is a waiting game. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteMicah is growing up and using sentences! A genius indeed. :)
ReplyDeleteCute shirt..I have looked at that site before but not made any purchases.
Baby girl D... Again, I feel the anxiety raising in me with the thoughts of wait time increasing and everything taking longer! Noooo... So exciting that you guys are speeding things up... You just might be surprised at how fast this one happens. :)
Weren't you supposed to call me back with a story?? :)
Awwww! Love hearing all the updates on Micah. And I totally love that his favorite toy right now is a Swiffer.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you guys as you start your new adoption journey.
And I love that you have also been bitten (so to speak) by what I call, the Edward Cullen Effect. It's so nice to have someone else to share my obsession with.
new to your blog-- your son is adorable & I had to laugh at your twilight addiction- my name is sarah, and I too, love twilight. I also wrote a post about it because it had started to take over my life & I felt like a 13 year old girl. Bella is reeallly on my last nerve... hee hee.
ReplyDeleteI love the books too! I've never liked that type of book before but I'm also obsessed! Good times.
ReplyDeleteI love the shirt!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see your moving along with the adoption how exciting! I hope it doesn't take that long! I am trying to prepare myself for a long wait too!
Ok - so I read your post yesterday and bought Twilight on my way home from work. I was excited when I saw the movie trailer but I didn't know it was a book series! At midnight I forced myself to put it down and go to sleep (I have already read more than 1/2 of the book)!!! You have created a monster! It is so wonderful that I can't wait until I get home from work tonight so I can finish it and start the next one!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new adoption! Waiting is so hard. I am halfway through Twilight! I am also finding it hard to put down. I'm glad I'm not the only one b/c I felt like I was really dorking out with the teen lit!
ReplyDeleteI have so many friends who have quietly admitted to reading Twilight, and loving it. I think it's time for me too. And I just knew Micah would be one of those kids who would start speaking in full sentences. So cool.
ReplyDeleteI am OBSESSED with the Twilight Series. I preordered the fourth book ions ago- and it came with a movie poster. Score! Ha! I seriously do love it. Can't wait for the movie!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your second adoption journey! I can't wait to follow along and hear more!
I'm so excited for you guys on adoption #2.
